Idaho Roots. Real Experience. Your Dedicated Bookkeeper.
I grew up in McCall, Idaho. My mom went to Nampa High School. My cousins went to Nampa Christian. I spent summers at my aunt and uncle's pool and grew up eating at Hong Kong in Nampa with my grandma — a family tradition that lasted until she passed. I lived in Meridian off Ten Mile and Cherry before Scheels was even a thought. My grandma lived on Cherry Lane Golf Course. I brought my son home to that house, and I still own a rental property in the area. I went to the University of Idaho in Moscow — it was my first time living in a city big enough to have a Walmart, and I loved every minute of it. I earned my MBA from Boise State.
Idaho isn't my service area. It's where I'm from.
I started Buckallew & Associates because I saw the same problem over and over — business owners in the trades, in service companies, in real estate investing, running hard and growing fast but flying blind financially. Their books were months behind. Their P&L didn't match their bank account. Their CPA was reconstructing a year's worth of data every tax season. They weren't failing because they were bad at business. They were failing at bookkeeping because nobody had built them a system that actually worked for how they operate. That's what I do. I build bookkeeping systems inside QuickBooks Online that give you clean financials every month, accurate job costing, and a year-end tax package your CPA can use without rework — so you can run your business from data instead of gut instinct.
I hold an active Idaho CPA license (CP-5517), I'm a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, and I've been doing this for over 18 years. Every client gets one dedicated bookkeeper — me or a member of my team — who knows your chart of accounts, your vendors, and your business. Not a call center. Not a ticket queue. A real person who answers your questions within 4 hours and reviews every transaction in your books for missed deductions.

What Working With Buckallew & Associates Looks Like
Every engagement starts with a diagnostic review — I look at your QuickBooks Online file, your bank accounts, your payroll setup, and your balance sheet, and I tell you exactly where things stand. Most business owners who come to me know their books are off but don't know how bad. I give you the honest answer and a fixed-price quote to get it right.
If your books are behind, we start with a clean up — reconciling every account, reclassifying miscategorized transactions, fixing payroll liability balances, and rebuilding your chart of accounts so it matches how your business actually operates. If you're starting from scratch, we set up QuickBooks Online the right way from day one and integrate it with your payroll provider and your field software — Jobber, Service Titan, Housecall Pro, whatever your crew runs.
Once your books are clean, we keep them clean. Every month, your transactions are categorized, your accounts are reconciled, your payroll is verified against your provider's reports, and you receive a P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow summary you can actually read. We sit down with you monthly to walk through the numbers — what's working, what's not, and what decisions you should be thinking about before they become urgent.
By January 31 every year, your CPA receives a complete, organized, tax-ready package — P&L, balance sheet, depreciation schedules, 1099s, and supporting documentation. No scrambling. No chasing documents. No extensions caused by missing records. Tax season is handled before it starts.
I work with trade contractors, service businesses, and real estate investors because those are the businesses I understand — HVAC companies, electricians, plumbers, landscapers, cleaning companies, property managers, and landlords who own rental portfolios across Idaho. I know how job costing works. I know what a cash flow forecast needs to look like when you're fronting materials and waiting 60 days for payment. I know the difference between a P&L that looks profitable and a bank account that says otherwise. And I know that your bookkeeper should be able to explain why.
